#1 WHAT IS A COMMUNITY COLLEGE?

​

A community college is a two-year public institution in the U.S. that allows students to complete the first two years of their bachelor's degree. Students who have completed their first two years at a community college can earn an Associates Degree which is similar to a diploma in Malaysia. They can then enter the job market or transfer to a public or private university to complete their bachelor's degree. This option allows students to complete all four years of their education in the U.S. and a chance to graduate from a top-ranked university in the U.S. at a lower cost compared to going direct to a 4-year university.

#2 WHAT IS AMERICAN DEGREE TRANSFER PROGRAMME (ADTP)?

ADTP allows Malaysian students to complete the first two years of their degree programme at a private university in Malaysia, and then transfer to certain universities in the U.S.. This programme allows Malaysian students who have just finished their SPM/IGCSE to enrol straight in a degree programme without having to first complete any pre-university courses.  This programme is a popular and cost-efficient option for those who wish to study in the USA but not aiming at top-ranked universities or the ivy leagues.
