University of Surrey International Study Centre

The International Study Centre is at the heart of the University of Surrey campus. Their pathway programmes are designed to prepare you for university-style teaching and develop your academic and English language skills. From day one you will be welcomed into the University community with full access to the facilities, while receiving specialist support on your path to your chosen degree.

The pathway programmes at the University of Surrey International Study Centre are run by Study Group, in collaboration with the University of Surrey. Study Group is a world leader in education and training for international students.

International Foundation Year

The International Foundation Year is a programme of academic subjects, study skills and English language training designed specifically to provide international students with a pathway to undergraduate degree at the University of Surrey, one of the UK’s most prestigious universities. 

​

This is a two-semester pathway programme, designed to prepare you for the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree. You can choose from several routes with modules related to the degree you are looking to progress to. Programmes at the International Study Centre also include a career skills element. 

​

You will be assessed through examinations and coursework, which could take the form of a presentation of extended essay. Tutors will support you throughout your International Foundation Year to help you achieve your best and progress to your chosen degree at the University.

Business, Economics, Law and Social Sciences

The Business, Economics, Law and Social Sciences International Foundation Year provides the subject knowledge, language proficiency and study skills you need to progress to degree study at the University of Surrey in a related field. During the International Foundation Year you will study a core unit of general subject skills, subject-specific units and elective units, which are carefully designed for your academic development.

Tuition Fees & Entry Requirements

It is important to think about not only your tuition and accommodation costs but the cost of living too.

The minimum cost of living as recommended by UKVI for studying outside London is £1,023 per month, but will vary from student to student.

    • ​SPM:  Grades of A- C achieved in 5 relevant academic subjects to include English and Maths.

    • GCSE/IGCSE/O Level: 5 passes at A-C in relevant subjects (excluding native language) with a C in Maths. New grades 9-4 in English and Maths.

    • IB Diploma Programme: 26 points.

    • A Level: 88 UCAS points (native language accepted)

    • AS Levels: 24 UCAS points (native language accepted)

  • English Proficiency:

    • Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 (minimum 5.0 in writing).

  • Age: Students are usually 17 years of age.
