University of Strathclyde International Study Centre

The University of Strathclyde International Study Centre offers specialist tuition in English language, study skills and subject preparation. Alongside other international students, you'll study programmes developed in collaboration with the University of Strathclyde in preparation for your university degree. 95% of students who completed their pathway programme at Strathclyde International Study Centre were offered progression to a degree course at the University of Strathclyde in 2023.

Undergraduate Foundation Programme

The Undergraduate Foundation Programme is a preparation programme for international students who don’t meet the direct entry requirements for an undergraduate degree at the University of Strathclyde. Once you successfully complete the programme, you will progress to the second year of a four-year undergraduate degree (some exceptions apply). 97% of students who completed the Undergraduate Foundation Programme at Strathclyde International Study Centre were offered progression to a degree course at the University of Strathclyde in 2023.

You can choose from two routes, and you will study core modules as well as route-specific modules designed to focus on the academic areas most useful for your degree.

Business and Social Sciences

Formerly known as Business and Social Studies, this pathway will prepare you for your chosen undergraduate degree at the Strathclyde Business School or Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences. You will study three core modules that will focus on general skills useful in your chosen progression degree, plus route modules specific to your academic area.

Degree Progression

Once you have completed the Undergraduate Foundation Programme, and subject to satisfying the progression criteria, you can proceed to the second year of your four-year degree at the University such as:

  • Accounting

  • Business Administration

  • Business Law

  • Hospitality

  • Economics

  • Marketing

  • Human Resource Management

  • Law

  • Psychology

Engineering and Sciences

If you have dreams of studying a STEM subject at a UK university, there’s no better first step than our preparation programme. You’ll learn more about your chosen subject through our specialist modules, as well as developing your English language skills in a university setting – ensuring you’re fully prepared to succeed at a UK university.

This pathway will prepare you for your chosen undergraduate degree at the Faculty of Engineering or Faculty of Science.

Degree Progression

Once you have completed the Undergraduate Foundation Programme, and subject to satisfying the progression criteria, you can proceed to the second year of your four-year degree at the University such as:

  • Aero-Mechanical Engineering

  • Architectural Studies

  • Biochemistry

  • Biomedical Science

  • Engineering

  • Computer Science

  • Data Analytics

  • Immunology

  • Microbiology

  • Naval Architecture

  • Pharmacology

Entry Requirements & Tuition Fees

  • ​​SPM:  Grades of A- C achieved in 5 relevant academic subjects to include English and Maths.

  • ​GCSE/IGCSE/O Level: 5 passes at A-C in relevant subjects (excluding native language). New grades 9-4 in English and Maths.

  • IB Diploma Programme: 26 points.

​

  • English Proficiency:

    •  Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (minimum 4.5 in writing and 4.0 in other areas)*

  • Age: You must be 17 years old before the start of the first term

​

*Students wanting to progress to Pharmacy (MPharm) are required to have Academic IELTS UKVI 5.5 with 5.5  in writing and no sub-skill below 5.0. Furthermore, students must pass the University interview in order successfully progress on to Pharmacy (MPharm).

It is important to think about not only your tuition and accommodation costs but the cost of living too.

The minimum cost of living as recommended by UKVI for studying outside London is £1,023 per month, but will vary from student to student. This is a guideline to cover items like accommodation, food, laundry, books, clothes, toiletries and socialising.

  • Business and Social Sciences: £16,100

  • Engineering and Sciences: £18,000
