Leeds International Study Centre

Leeds International Study Centre works in collaboration with the University of Leeds and Leeds Beckett University to prepare students from outside the UK for successful degree study. Our programmes offer students the opportunity to study abroad in the UK, and provide additional support to students who do not meet the entry requirements to apply directly at the University of Leeds.

The pathway programmes at the Leeds International Study Centre are run by Study Group, in collaboration with the University of Leeds. Study Group is a world leader in education and training for international students. Each pathway programme is designed to ease you into life in the UK – with small classes, attentive teaching styles and tailored courses for international students, as well as a focus on improving your English language skills. You will also take part in lectures, seminars and tutorials, so that you know what to expect when you progress to your degree at the University of Leeds.

The International Foundation Year is a two semester course that aims to help you develop the skills you need to succeed at your undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds. Aiming to improve your basic English language skills, as well as honing your academic voice, this programme is suitable for students who want a tailored, personal studying experience to introduce you to your higher education career in the UK. Our teachers work closely with students to equip you with knowledge to help you successfully enter the British higher education system.

Entry Requirements

  • Academic:  â€‹

    • SPM:  Grades of A- C achieved in 5 relevant academic subjects to include English and Maths.

    • GCSE/IGCSE/O Level: 5 passes at A-C in relevant subjects (excluding native language) with a C in Maths. New grades 9-4 in English and Maths.

    • IB Diploma Programme: 26 points.

    • A/AS Levels: 80 UCAS points.

  • English Proficiency:

    • Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 (minimum 5.0 in writing).

  • Age: Students are usually 17 years of age.

The International Year One is a two-semester programme that is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree. It aims to help you develop the skills you need to join the second year of a related degree at the University of Leeds, by building on your pre-existing English language skills and supporting you through the introduction to a British-style university curriculum. Our teachers work closely with students to bring you a tailored, personal studying experience and allow you to seamlessly enter an undergraduate degree.

    • SPM/A Levels:  2 principal passes

    • UEC: Aggregate of not more than 30 points for 6 subjects including English

    • IB Diploma Programme: 29 points.

    • A/AS Levels: 160 UCAS points.

  • English Proficiency:

    •  Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.5 (minimum 5.5 in writing).

  • Age: Minimum 18 at start of IY1.
