The International Foundation Year will give you all the preparation required to succeed at the University of Sheffield. It includes English language tuition, study skills and an introduction to your degree programme. This programme is designed in collaboration with the University of Sheffield and is delivered by Study Group.

 

The International Foundation Year is an intensive 1.5 or 2 semester programme designed specifically to provide you with a path to undergraduate degree study at the University of Sheffield. Once you complete the programme and achieve the required grades, you can enter the first year of your chosen undergraduate degree at the University.

    • 1.5 Semesters: £18,500

Entry Requirements

  • Academic:  â€‹

    • SPM:  A-B grades in 5 academic subjects

    • UEC:  a minimum of 5 grade Bs in relevant academic subjects including English and Mathematics

    • GCSE/IGCSE/O Level: 5 subjects including relevant subjects, grades B or above (students must be 17 or over). New grades 9 - 6 in English and Maths

    • IB Diploma Programme: 26 points (IB Certificate accepted, 26 points) (Subject pass level is 3)

    • AS levels: 32 points (formerly 100 UCAS points (only A-C grades) (excluding native language) 

    • A levels: 2 passes at grade C (new tariff 64) or 3 passes at grade D (new tariff 72)

  • English Proficiency:

    • 2 Semesters: Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0 with minimum 5.0 in writing (minimum of 4.0 in other skills), or equivalent

    • 1.5 Semesters: Academic IELTS for UKVI 6.0 (minimum 5.0 in all skills), or equivalent

  • Age: Students should be at least 17 years of age on entry to the International College

The Pre-Masters programme at the International College offers a path to a masters for international students at the University of Sheffield. This programme is designed in collaboration with the University and is delivered by Study Group.

The Pre-Masters is an intensive 1.5 or 2-semester programme. Once you successfully complete the programme and achieve the required grades, you can enter your chosen postgraduate degree at the University.

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences

Lancaster’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences is home to over 20 disciplines, with many placing in the top ten in the major UK league tables and top 100 in the world rankings. The nine departments include Educational Research History The Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts Languages and Cultures English Literature and Creative Writing Linguistics and English Language Politics, Philosophy and Religion Sociology and Law School.

Faculty of Health and Medicine

The Faculty of Health and Medicine's multidisciplinary research and teaching operates across three Divisions: The Medical School, Biomedical and Life Sciences and Health Research.

The International Foundation Year prepares you for undergraduate study at Lancaster. You will focus on English language, study skills and academic modules, and start planning for your future career. After your Foundation Year, you can progress to your chosen degree at Lancaster – one of the UK’s top ten universities.

Entry Requirement

Age Requirement: 17+ upon entry to the International Study Centre

Academic Requirement: SPM school- Form 5, Term 2 or Mid-Year transcript - Grades of A- C achieved in 5 relevant academic subjects to include English and Maths

English Language Requirement:

For entry to International Foundation Year in Engineering and Computer, Life Sciences and Mathematics and Statistics courses you need:

  • Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0, with minimum 5.0 in writing*.

​

For entry to International Foundation Year in Business and Management Studies, Law and Social Studies courses you need: 

  • A minimum Academic IELTS for UKVI 5.0, with minimum 5.0 in all sub-skills*.

​

If you DO NOT meet the English language requirements for the International Foundation Year, the one-term English Language Preparation programme is available to you.

  • Entry Requirement: Academic IELTS for UKVI 4.5 overall, with 4.5 in writing and listening and no other skills below 4.0 *.

  • Start Date: July, September.

  • Fees: £5,000 per term
